Case 1, a tongue tie release in a 10 year old patient
Pre-operative
The main concern for this child was pain on sticking their tongue out to lick lollies. The child also struggled to clear food from around the teeth as their tongue struggled to swipe across.
Post-operative
Immediately post-operatively, the child has better range of tongue movement immediately. Please note that the stitches are dissolvable and there is very little bleeding.
Case 2, a tongue tie release in an 11 year old patient
Pre-operative
The child’s main concern was an inability to stick the tongue out of the mouth and difficulty cleaning his lower teeth. The dentist noted a build-up of calculus on the lingual surface of the lower incisors. In calculus builds up, it can lead to gum disease.
Immediately post-operatively
The tip of the tongue is able to touch the roof of the mouth for the first time in the patient’s life. There is very little bleeding and the stitches will dissolve within a few weeks.
Post-operative
At the review appointment, the child is able to maintain a great range of tongue movement and clean his teeth better.
